Who We Are

Variant Perception is a small investment team known for building predictive models with innovative techniques. Our investment portal helps clients leverage our unique data to find differentiated insights with a modern, user-friendly twist.

We seek a proactive and critical thinker to become the second engineer on the VP team and take ownership of our portal development. You’ll architect features, refactor legacy code, and ship tools that directly impact traders and analysts alike.

Our team is generally remote, but we have offices in London, Charlotte and New York.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 3 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.

  • Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with a focus on building performant and user-friendly interfaces.

  • In-depth understanding of RESTful API development and maintenance.

  • Solid experience designing and managing databases.

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS, GCP, Firebase and serverless functions would be a bonus.

Your Role

  • Develop and implement new features for our portal, ensuring a seamless user experience. Investing is already hard enough. We want to remove cognitive load from users and create intuitive interactions that provide them with actionable insights.

  • Our quant team builds dashboards and web apps that cater to specific investor profiles. They are embedded in the portal. You will help design and productionize these apps.

  • Ultimately, we want someone entrepreneurial who wants to take ownership of the client-facing product from end-to-end and help us build a better investing platform.

Are you a good fit?

You care deeply about the user experience and use engineering tools and principles to delight the user. To build the best platform we must experiment with new ideas and technologies. You should enjoy continuous learning.

We have big goals for our team and rely on each other to achieve them. To be successful at VP you must be self-motivated, have trust in teammates, be forgiving of mistakes, be open-minded and above all enjoy figuring out problems, often from scratch.

How to apply

Please email recruiting@variantperception.com with your CV and links to your GitHub (show us a project you’re proud of). Please mention the word “proactive” when applying to show you read the job post completely.

Fundamental gold buy signal triggered
On a 6-month+ outlook, we stick with a risk-off asset allocation while cyclical LEIs are negative and our US Recession Signal remains active.
